The purpose of home automation is that with a central point of control you can adjust anything you desire in your living space. This often includes room lighting (lights/blinds) and temperature, entertainment systems, smart locks on doors, security cameras and kitchen appliances.
Implementation depends on the living space. It is easy to create smart homes when buildings we already designed and buid with that option in mind. Older structures might be more difficult to fully convert as some conversions would involve some work to re-wire electrical instalations. Often this work can be avoided if you're prepared to accept some compromises.
Office automation takes home automation one step extra. Not only it makes the working environment as pleasant as possible for people but also tries to help them be more productive. One example would be smart meeting rooms bookings and keeping tracks of no shows for your customers.
Companies today still focus a lot on boosting productivity. In the old days, they did it by any means necessary, not taking their employees into the equation. A smart office turns this old concept upside down by allowing employers to still focus on productivity and efficiency as much as possible but at the same time make the working environment as positive as possible for people that work there.
